New Jersey is one of the most popular wedding destinations on the East Coast — and for good reason. From the rolling estates of Morris County to the Shore venues of Monmouth and Ocean County, from the elegant ballrooms of Bergen County to the charming barns and vineyards of South Jersey, the Garden State offers an incredible variety of backdrops for your wedding day. And unlike Manhattan, you tend to get more space, more greenery, and often more value for your venue dollar.

But how much should you budget for wedding photography in New Jersey? Here’s a straightforward breakdown of what the market looks like, what influences pricing, and what to look for when you’re comparing photographers.
The New Jersey Wedding Photography Price Range
New Jersey wedding photography costs range widely depending on the photographer’s experience, what’s included, and the scope of your coverage. Here’s what the market looks like:
At the entry level, you’ll find photographers starting in the $2,000–$3,500 range — newer professionals or those offering limited-hour packages. The mid-range for established professionals with solid portfolios runs between $3,500 and $7,500. At the high end, particularly for photographers who serve both NJ and NYC markets, prices can reach $8,000–$12,000 or more.
For most New Jersey couples working with an experienced professional for a full-day wedding, a typical investment falls in the $4,000–$8,000 range. This is somewhat more affordable than Manhattan pricing on average, though photographers who work across the greater NYC metro area — including NJ — may price at NYC-adjacent rates.

What’s Usually Included in a New Jersey Wedding Photography Package
Wedding photography packages vary quite a bit, so it pays to read the fine print. Most full-service packages include:
Hours of coverage — Most full-day NJ wedding packages cover 8–10 hours of photography, starting with preparation and going through the reception. Shorter packages exist for micro-weddings and elopements.
Edited digital images — Expect a full gallery of high-resolution, edited photos — typically 600–1,200 images for a full-day wedding — delivered via a private online gallery you can download and share.
Second photographer — For larger weddings (125+ guests) or events where the couple isn’t doing a first look, a second photographer significantly improves coverage. Some packages include a second shooter; for others, it’s an add-on.
Engagement session — Many photographers include or offer engagement sessions as part of their packages. Aside from being a beautiful keepsake, it gives you a chance to get comfortable in front of the camera before your wedding day.
Wedding albums — Heirloom albums are generally priced separately (often starting around $900) or bundled into higher-tier packages. If a printed album matters to you, factor this into your comparison.

What Affects the Price of NJ Wedding Photography
Experience and portfolio depth. A photographer who has documented hundreds of weddings across New Jersey’s diverse venues — from the Grand Cascades Lodge to Nanina’s in the Park, from Bonnet Island Estate to Park Chateau — brings real expertise. They’ve navigated every kind of weather, every venue layout, and every family dynamic, and that experience shows up in your photos.
Your venue and timeline. A large wedding at a multi-room venue with a ceremony and reception in separate locations typically warrants a second photographer. An intimate backyard wedding for 40 people is a very different scope than a 200-person ballroom event.
Proximity to New York City. Photographers who work across the NYC metro area — including northern and central New Jersey — often price closer to NYC market rates due to the cost of operating in the region.
Time of year. Peak season in New Jersey runs from May through October, with June, September, and October being especially popular. Some photographers offer discounts for off-peak dates (November through April, excluding December holidays) or weekday weddings.
What’s bundled in. A package that includes two photographers, an engagement session, and a premium album is a different value proposition than a solo-shooter, digital-only package — even if the base prices look similar at first glance.

What You Might Expect at Different Price Points
Under $2,500: Very limited coverage hours, newer photographers, or heavily discounted packages. Best suited for very small, informal celebrations where full-day coverage isn’t a priority.
$2,500–$4,000: Emerging or part-time photographers with growing portfolios. Can offer good value if you vet their work carefully and your expectations are aligned with their experience level.
$4,000–$6,500: The sweet spot for established NJ wedding photographers. Expect full-day coverage, a solid portfolio of NJ venues, digital delivery, and clear communication throughout the process.
$6,500–$10,000+: Experienced professionals — often working across NJ and NYC — with a strong track record, premium deliverables, and a refined client experience. Second photographer, engagement sessions, and albums often included or available at this tier.

New Jersey vs. NYC: Is There a Price Difference?
Generally, yes — though the gap has narrowed in recent years, especially in northern Jersey. Photographers based primarily in NJ tend to price slightly lower than their Manhattan counterparts, and the competition in the NJ market is strong enough to keep prices competitive. That said, many top-tier photographers work fluidly across both markets, and their pricing reflects that.
If you’re getting married in New Jersey but considering a photographer based in New York City, ask about travel fees. Many NYC-based photographers include travel within 50 miles of the city, which covers much of northern and central NJ.
Booking Timeline for NJ Weddings
New Jersey’s wedding season is busy, and the most sought-after photographers — especially those who also cover NYC — can book up a year or more in advance for peak-season dates. If you’re eyeing a Saturday in June, September, or October, start reaching out to photographers as soon as you have your venue date locked in.
