This beautiful, modern Hudson Valley wedding at The Garrison illustrates one of the most important aspects of being a wedding photographer, in my opinion. What is it and why is it so important?
Getting to know the couple getting married is extremely important as a wedding photographer. It helps you make sure that your clients are comfortable throughout the day. You can also better capture photos that reflect their relationship, as well as their relationships with their family and friends. Knowing what is important to the couple informs you what you should focus on as the wedding photographer.
AND I AM NOT GOING TO APOLOGIZE FOR THAT PUN!
In this particular wedding, I benefited from knowing the bride for a long time, and she’d been a guest at several weddings I had photographed before.
Quick Side Note:
When you get married, be sure to get a group of friends in your wedding party like the bridesmaids here. I have seen them all interacting over the course of several weddings and this is truly a ‘ride or die’ crew. Make sure you have people have got your back and will do whatever you need throughout the day.
Okay, so back to learning about the wedding couple. Even though I had known the bride for a long time, it doesn’t mean I know the ins and outs and intricacies of her relationship with the groom. I take the time, usually before the engagement session, to ask questions and get more information.
Some simple questions can lead to me having a greater understanding of your relationship, and that gives me the tools I need to ensure I capture images that are unique to your wedding.
So let’s take a look at this gorgeous Hudson Valley wedding at The Garrison, shall we?
