Central Park Boathouse Wedding: Leah + Michael

“Close your eyes, keep them shut, then lean in and kiss one another…”

This is one of the many “prompts” I use with couples on their wedding day to get more relaxed and natural photos. A lot of the time, couples can feel a little nervous about having their photo taken, so it helps to give them something to do as opposed to traditionally posing them. And this is one of my favorites, because no matter what happens, it works…but more on that later.

You can never be sure how a moment is going to effect you on your wedding day. I’ve seen it thousands of times.

Seeing each other for the first time on your wedding day might result in tears…or laughs…or just joy.

All of these emotions swirl around right near the surface. It’s not surprising. You’re surrounded by your favorite people, friends and family, and it’s likely you don’t get to see all of them that often. AND you never have all of them in the same room together.

These are the people who make you laugh and smile and cry tears of joy.

And that’s why I am always watching, looking for that moment when the emotions bubble to the surface.

That prompt I was talking about earlier? Most of the time, the couples miss each other’s mouths and end up laughing hysterically…

And that’s fine! Because whether a couple starts laughing or they embrace in a loving kiss, it ends up being a beautiful photo.

And the rest of the day? Well whether you’re swooning, laughing or crying…I will be there to get the pictures!
