I photographed one of the first, if not THE first, wedding at Liberty Warehouse in Brooklyn. A decade later, I’ve had the privilege of working at this gorgeous wedding venue on many occasions since!
What makes Liberty Warehouse a great wedding venue?
Lots of space to let your imagination play.
It’s a fantastic industrial space. It’s spacious. There is a lot of room to do what you want inside. Very much a blank slate.
There’s plenty of room for your ceremony and reception (keeping both spaces separate so you don’t have to worry about ‘turning over’ a room) even if you choose to do both inside!
But if you do choose to have your ceremony outdoors…
The views of the Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Statue of Liberty from Liberty Warehouse are amazing. In fact, the venue was featured (with one of my photos) in The Knot Magazine as a ‘venue with a view’.
And, if you’re lucky, you’ll be treated to a fantastic sunset at the end of the day.
Excellent staff, service, and food!
Every time I have been to Liberty Warehouse, the staff has been exceptional in aiding both the wedding couple and myself whenever we needed anything.
And the food..the food is VERY good! I’ve worked at a lot of venues and that is not always the case.
Things to keep in mind when planning a wedding at Liberty Warehouse…
Going anywhere else for photos will take some time
There are many locations at the venue to take photos, and they are very picturesque at that. However, if you’re looking to take photos at locations other than the warehouse, be sure to schedule enough time. It’s at least a 15 minute drive to Brooklyn Bridge Park (depending on traffic on the day).
If you hire me for your Liberty Warehouse wedding, we will consult on your timeline and discuss other photos locations you may be considering. I’ll give you the benefit of my decades of experience and give you the best estimate I can on how much time you’ll need to allot for those.
After the sun goes down, it gets very dark!
Once the sun sets, it will get very dark inside Liberty Warehouse. While you can choose from a variety of lighting options for decorative purposes, MAKE SURE you have a photographer who is familiar with lighting dark locations.
If they’ve never worked at the venue before, make sure to see photos from events where they had to use off camera flash! Bouncing the flash from their camera won’t work with the dark ceilings at Liberty Warehouse.
Over the years, and working at Liberty Warehouse on numerous occasions, I’ve created a system for lighting weddings and events there so that I can overcome the, at times, difficult lighting situation.
