This Maryland wedding marks the third time I have photographed a wedding for the bride’s family…
Showing up for Sarah and Arvin’s wedding, I felt like a member of the family. Which is understandable, I photographed one of Sarah’s sister’s wedding in Southern New Jersey several years ago. Then I photographed another sister’s wedding in Northern New Jersey a couple years ago.
It feels amazing to be trusted with these milestone moments in a family’s life, not just once BUT THREE TIMES!
That feels incredible, and I hope it reassures you to know that I often work with couples on multiple occasions (not just their weddings). Many times, I end up taking anniversary photos, family portraits, newborn photos, etc., etc
And, working with the family more than once, I find out the secrets to getting the best photos of your family members.
I know that I have to be especially sneaky when snapping a picture of mom…
Or that I really have to be on my toes to get photos of that one uncle who swing dances really fast…seriously, it took me three weddings to get what I feel was the BEST shot of him doing this. He’s really fast!
I love capturing moments like that. Moments where everyone has let their guard down and they are truly themselves.
The whole experience was wonderful and a bit bittersweet. Everyone in the family is married…until the kids grow up but that’s going to be a while! We’ll have to find other reasons to get together!
