What Your Wedding Day is Really Going to Be Like

Okay folks, I’m going to give you a peek behind the curtain at what your wedding day is REALLY going to be like. How do I know? Well, I have been part of over 500 of them, and let’s just say what I’m about to tell you fits about 90% of all weddings…

It’s like a rollercoaster…

Think of your wedding day like a roller coaster ride. You know that big first hill? Well, that’s the getting ready part of the day. There’s a lot of anticipation and things are moving very slowly…until you get to the ceremony!

Then suddenly everything is going to start rushing past you in a blur. There might be occasional little slow downs where you can catch a breath, but, overall, things are going to happen pretty fast once the ceremony is over.

That’s why I make sure I capture all of those fleeting moments for you to relive for many years after your wedding day. They go by so fast.

Something is going to go wrong…

Most likely it will be something little…

Someone will be running late, one of the groomsmen will forget his tie, somebody drops a glass at cocktail hour and it shatters all over the floor…

Prepare yourself mentally. Get yourself into a zen state if you can. Just know that there will be a hiccup or two here and there, but, in the end, it isn’t going to effect you enjoying your wedding day!

It also helps if you have great vendors who can jump in when something goes wrong. Personally, I have jumped in to sew a ripped bridesmaid’s dress and performed some MacGyver work to fix a groom’s broken boutonniere…just to name a couple of instances.

You’re going to be the center of attention…

If you don’t like being the center of attention, psych yourself up. You can do this. People are going to be coming to you all day congratulating you – if you’re getting married in NYC and walking on the street at any point, total strangers will be shouting their congratulations. Be prepared for it.

You’re going to have a lot of photos taken of you. If you’re not very comfortable having your picture taken, make sure your photographer knows! I always work with my couples to make sure they feel relaxed and at ease (not just with pictures).

I also make sure to get through the group portraits as quickly and painlessly as possible. That way you can get back to enjoying your wedding day!

You’ll probably forget to eat..

There’s a lot going on. You’re surrounded by friends and family. You want to talk to everyone since they’re all in one place. You want to dance…

You might forget that you need to eat. I always make sure to remind the couples I work with to take a minute and sit down and get some food.

Wedding night nookie…

Unlike the other things I’ve mentioned in this post, I CANNOT help you here. There’s a lot of pressure to have epic, mind blowing sex on your wedding night.

Don’t feel the need to give in to the pressure. You’re probably going to be exhausted. Save it for the morning when you’re both rested…
