The grey December sky opened and a shaft of light shone down on Central Park.
“There, we need to take pictures right there,” I said as we climbed up over a slight rise. “The light is perfect here.”
And it was perfect. Soft, golden light cascading down….As a photographer, I always have to be on the lookout for where the light is, but there are other things you have to look for as well. Like that moment when the couple you’re photographing is waiting for a pair of tourists to take 500 selfies before they can pose in ‘the spot’.
Or when I ask what your least favorite holiday song is and you respond in unison with the same song, and proceed to burst out laughing.
Or making sure to get some photos with your dog…
Or getting that detail shot of your Darth Vader Christmas tie…
Or just being present to capture the love and joy between the two of you as it unfolds in front of me. That’s what it is all about.
If you’re looking for a photographer who is aware and observant of those sorts of things, you should get in touch with me.
