Jessica + James: Bear Mountain Military Wedding – and maybe I dance to “Thriller”

You may remember Jessica and James from the “King Kong” engagement session, or maybe you saw some of their wedding photos when they were featured over on Glamour Magazine’s wedding blog. The wedding took place at the Overlook Lodge on Bear Mountain, near West Point (where James had just recently graduated). After over three years of a semi-long distance relationship, they did not want the ‘traditional’ military wedding, and instead went for something more simple.

Let’s take another look at those shoes. I look at these and I think, “God, how do women do it?”

I love the simple, info-graphic “Save the Date”

And the peacock feather on the invitation…

Hey, grooms get ready too!

The “first look”

There was a bug on the ground. Apparently, it was very interesting…

Stop kissing for a minute so we can go take some portraits!

Apparently, James was a little jealous that he didn’t have a big, frilly skirt to walk around in…

The trees…the mountains…beautiful, happy people. What more could you ask for?

One of my favorite parts of my job is getting a photo that nobody had any idea that I got. I am sneaky that way.

And this shot is quickly rising on my list of all-time favorites…

Puzzle piece cake topper? It is also a salt and pepper shaker! (check the end of the post for a link)

They liked the engagement photos so much, they had me put together a signing book for them using the pictures.

James’s mom is NOT touching the cake…NOT TOUCHING!

If you have been reading my blog regularly, you know that people who like to dance have been a staple of this year’s weddings. This reception? No exception to that rule…

Cake cutting…accomplished!

I also love edible favors, so Whoopie Pies and cookies – very nice!

And that moment when the bride tosses the bouquet, as it floats through the air…the look of anticipation on the waiting ladies faces is priceless…

Another personal favorite moment, when they played “Thriller” by Michael Jackson…

I may have danced along to it for a moment, but there is no photographic evidence of such…so it will forever remain a mystery!

Thanks to Jessica and James for having me there to be a part of their day, it was an honor and a blast!
